Of particular interest to me was the following exchanged toward the end of this second video:

Dr. Michael Kigel states, "Do you think that Mashiach, the idea of Mashiach, who is a descendant of David, that we could say is the perfect exemplar? That we are looking ... you know actually ... it's interesting, you know, in the Christian world this is actually the idea of imitatio christi is a very popular idea - 'You imitate Jesus, right? What would Jesus do? I try to imitate him.' Whereas we don't talk that way. We would say, 'Imitatio Moshi,' if that's the right declension."
Prof. Najman says, "No, but we ... but we do it ... we do it with respect to rabbinical teachers. What would my teacher do?"
Dr. Michael Kigel replies, "Well, yes. Right. What would my teacher do?"
Prof. Najman states, "And our teacher [is] held up as [an example]...."
Dr. Michael Kigel interupts, "The Rebbe is [held up in] that way, right."
Prof. Najman continues, "And the teacher himself becomes or herself, but becomes the ideal for the student and you do what your teacher did."

It's interesting to note here that King David's descendants might not need to be anointed with oil in order to be enthroned as Moshiach.
